Hi, my name is Daisy and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m only two years old and I love to play. My foster mom says I’m just the cutest little toy fox terrier/chihuahua mix ever!

Hi, I’m Daisy and I’m looking for my forever home!

I love attention and like to explore the outside world, but loud noises (especially outside) do scare me, because everything outside is new to me. Sometimes, I can feel a little anxious, but my curious nature wins out.

I can sit and I love treats so very much! I’m also super smart and learned how to go to the bathroom outside from my foster mom’s other dog all on my very own.

Daisy taking a nap – beds are the best!

I won’t lie, I like to sleep in the bed and under the covers! And I’ll lick your ear to show you how much I love you! I also love to cuddle up when things are calm. Plush toys are my very favorite things and as I’m still a bit of a puppy, I will grab a shoe every now and then just out of boredom (but I won’t chew too much on it, promise!).

I am up to date on my shots, am heartworm negative, and spayed. If you think I might be the right dog for you, please reach out to TFTR by email at or you can find me on Petfinder by clicking here (and see more photos of me!)

Here at TFTR, we love happy tail pupdates! We recently caught up with loveable Stretch and his family… Stretch is a TFTR rescue dog that was adopted and now lives on a ranch with his dad, Bob, as well as Bob’s daughter, Marilyn, and grandkids, Julie and Joe. He came into their lives at the absolutely perfect time!

Stretch and Bob, best friends!

Bob, had just lost his toy fox terrier of 13 years and he was absolutely devastated.  Not only did he cherish his beloved TFT, but it was the last living fur baby link that he had to his wife, Lila, that he had lost a few years before (after 58 years of marriage).

These two seniors hit it off immediately and Bob discovered a new purpose in life, loving and caring for Stretch!  Over the past year, they have become best buddies and are pretty much inseparable.

Stretch on the ranch

Stretch is Bob’s shadow and follows him everywhere!  They have a daily routine of taking a walk after breakfast, playing fetch with Stretch’s toys, then taking a mid-morning nap. After lunch they enjoy watching TV in the kitchen and Stretch enjoys snuggling in Bob’s comfortable arms.  They have an afternoon nap, take another walk, then have dinner.  There’s a fully gated yard at the ranch and Stretch has lots of room to roam and play. Stretch has his own little bed he sleeps in right next to Bob and if he gets cold, he goes under the covers.  What a wonderful life!

One of Stretch’s favorite things to do is visit the neighbor’s house and get treats from them at least 3 times a week.  Stretch also loves to go on car rides with the family and he has his favorite spot in the car that he can look out the window!

Stretch, Bob, Marilyn, Julie, and Joe, we are so glad that you found each other! Thank you for adopting through TFTR!

If you’re interested in adopting a TFT of your own like Stretch, we have a lot of amazing little dogs looking for their forever families. You can find our adoptable dogs here or on Petfinder!

Hi, my name is Riley and I’m a toy fox terrier who lived in a puppy mill for 6 1/2 years, where I was forced to live in a cage and have tons of puppies. But then I was rescued and adopted by my loving mom. Unfortunately, my mom is having some health issues and I’m staying at the vet right now until I can find another home where I’ll be just as loved. TFTR is helping me find just the right family!

Riley out and about town!

I turned 13 in November, so I’d love a home where I can have lots of love, snuggle in comfy beds, and hang out with you!

I have a very special walk because I had 2 broken bones in the puppy mill and no one took care of me, so my legs didn’t get a chance to heal the way they were supposed to. But I still get around just fine and only need pain meds every now and then to help me feel better.

I get along well with other dogs, but I am a little shy with people until I have a chance to get to know you. I had a doggie door in my last home, so I may need some help learning how to potty in the right place if you don’t have one at your home!

Just look at Riley’s big smile!

I’m located in Muskogee, OK and am up to date on my shots, am heartworm negative, and spayed. Transport is possible to surrounding areas like MO, TX, AR, and KS!

If you think I might be the right dog for you, please reach out to TFTR by email at or you can find me on Petfinder by clicking here!

Hello, everyone… 2020 has arrived. What a year 2019 was for TFTR.

Thank you to all for sharing our posts, liking and following our Facebook page, purchasing our 10th anniversary 2020 calendar, purchasing our first-ever cookbook, participating in our various fundraisers, as well as participating in our annual auctions. We could not continue our “work” helping these little ones without all of you.

Many of the activities and functions will remain the same, but TFTR will begin the new year with a change in our board of directors… the same faces but serving in different capacities. They are: President – Amanda Sentelle, Vice President – Patty Blair, Secretary – Chris Chrestay, Treasurer – Lynette Purciello, Board Member – Lorraine Dunsmore, and Directors – Constance Haynes and Linda Wharton.

On a personal note, I want to thank each of you for your support during the last six years, but it’s time for new leadership. I hope to become more involved with our volunteers to build that base because without our volunteers, we are lost.

So on behalf of TFTR, we wish you the happiest and healthiest of new years and please continue to support us. We need you!

Warmly, Patty

Buster and Babs 1

Buster and Babs posing together!

Babs and Buster are looking for their forever homes!  They are currently being fostered together in Knoxville, TN.

Babs is 11 years old and came from the same family as Buster. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Babs loves to be snuggled and petted, she is pretty persistent about getting love! She is on a strict diet and meds to try and get control of her skin allergy issues. She’s the absolute sweetest, she loves to be held and give kisses! Babs is wonderful around children.

Buster is 9 years old, but you’d never know because he has plenty of energy and loves to talk to you! He is not a great fan of children as they are a little too rough with him. He has epilepsy, which is controlled through medication and a special diet.  Buster likes to sleep under the covers, loves blankets, and is a total model in all of his sweaters!

If you think you could give Babs and Buster a home or want to learn more about them, please contact us here! Learn more about our adoption process in our TFTR adoption letter! Click here to download an Adoption Application!

Mojo and foster mom jenny

Mojo and foster mom Jenny

*ADOPTED* Pupdate, sweet little Mojo continues to heal from his surgery with his foster family! His foster mom Jenny says that he is the sweetest little guy. Though he had both eyes removed during surgery, as well as 20 teeth, he just takes everything in stride and has the best attitude! A huge thank you to K9 Heelers and foster mom Jenny for all your help with Mojo!  To learn more about Mojo’s story in previous blog posts, click here.

Mojo is 6 years old, good with other dogs and kids, and no issues other than he loves to steal socks!  He is able to move around just fine using his other senses (though he will appreciate it if you don’t move the furniture around too much on him!). Mojo has so much love to give, don’t you want him to join your family?

If you think you could give Mojo a home or want to learn more about him, please contact us here! Learn more about our adoption process in our TFTR adoption letter! Click here to download an Adoption Application!

If you would like to donate to help Mojo, you can send a donation via paypal using, donate via our website, or donate directly to the vet where Mojo had his surgery – Bear Branch Vet Hospital in Woodlands, TX at 281-292-5000. If you do call the vet, please thank them for their support, they have very generously given us an amazing discount to help lower the cost of MoJo’s surgery.

Patty and MaxEach month, we’ll be highlighting one of our 2017 Toy Fox Terrier Rescue calendar dogs and our Mr. February is Max!

Max belonged to Patty, our TFTR President. He was a very special boy and taught her so many life lessons in the 7 years he was part of her life. Max was her very first rescue, she picked him up from a Humane Society in Maine when he was 7 months old. A neurologist in Maine diagnosed Max with Cerebellar Degeneration or Cerebellar Abiotrophy. With his debilitating disease, his life was not an easy one but they made the most of it.  His trips around the yard were done in the trailer attached to the lawn mower, and his trips around the lake were done in a cart Patty found at the consignment shop.  He didn’t walk well, and really not at all at the end, but he loved being on his bed with his toys, in the Xpen outside in the sunshine, or just plain snuggled up sleeping on his bed.

And Max just loved his big sister, Bailee the Boxer.  He slept with her on the couch and he stood over her as often as possible!  He didn’t like many people because he was so protective of himself with his disease, but he absolutely loved Patty’s family (her mom, dad, niece, and nephew). Patty says that Max taught her to never give up and to be happy with what we have been given. What a special and wonderful little boy, thank you for sharing his story with us, Patty!

Max & Bailee 12-07We’re having a flash sale on the very last few calendars for $14 – There’s only a limited number left, so buy them now!!! Calendar proceeds go towards helping our TFTR dogs find their forever homes!  You can pay by clicking here and specifying TFTR calendar as the designated fund or via paypal (our paypal address is Please make sure to include your address in the comments field.

Laverne 4Laverne is a 9 year old toy fox terrier being fostered in Las Vegas, NV and is related to the Harris County Houston TFTs we placed last year through TFTR!

Her foster mom says that Laverne is an absolute love who enjoys cuddling, playing with toys, and snuggling with you at night! Laverne is also quite the TV watcher, she would prefer to sit in your lap while watching your favorite shows. She is good with other dogs, but small children would be difficult for her as she is a little nervous.

This adorable floppy eared love bug spent most of her life with just one person and other dogs, so she is a little shy around new people at first, but is very sweet and will warm up to you once she feels comfortable. She would do well in a home with either a retired person or an adopter who works from home, as she loves to be with her people. Laverne is also a bit of an escape artist, so she will need a home with a very secure fence!

If you think you are the right family for Laverne or want to learn more about her, please contact us here! Learn more about our adoption process in our TFTR adoption letter! Click here to download an Adoption Application for Laverne!
