Hi, my name is Daisy and I’m looking for my forever home! I’m only two years old and I love to play. My foster mom says I’m just the cutest little toy fox terrier/chihuahua mix ever!

Hi, I'm Daisy and I'm looking for my forever home!
Hi, I’m Daisy and I’m looking for my forever home!

I love attention and like to explore the outside world, but loud noises (especially outside) do scare me, because everything outside is new to me. Sometimes, I can feel a little anxious, but my curious nature wins out.

I can sit and I love treats so very much! I’m also super smart and learned how to go to the bathroom outside from my foster mom’s other dog all on my very own.

I won’t lie, I like to sleep in the bed and under the covers! And I’ll lick your ear to show you how much I love you! I also love to cuddle up when things are calm. Plush toys are my very favorite things and as I’m still a bit of a puppy, I will grab a shoe every now and then just out of boredom (but I won’t chew too much on it, promise!).

I am up to date on my shots, am heartworm negative, and spayed. If you think I might be the right dog for you, please reach out to TFTR by email at admin@tftrescue.com or you can find me on Petfinder by clicking here (and see more photos of me!)

Here at TFTR, we love happy tail pupdates! We recently caught up with loveable Stretch and his family… Stretch is a TFTR rescue dog that was adopted and now lives on a ranch with his dad, Bob, as well as Bob’s daughter, Marilyn, and grandkids, Julie and Joe. He came into their lives at the absolutely perfect time!

Stretch and Bob, best friends!

Bob, had just lost his toy fox terrier of 13 years and he was absolutely devastated.  Not only did he cherish his beloved TFT, but it was the last living fur baby link that he had to his wife, Lila, that he had lost a few years before (after 58 years of marriage).

These two seniors hit it off immediately and Bob discovered a new purpose in life, loving and caring for Stretch!  Over the past year, they have become best buddies and are pretty much inseparable.

Stretch on the ranch

Stretch is Bob’s shadow and follows him everywhere!  They have a daily routine of taking a walk after breakfast, playing fetch with Stretch’s toys, then taking a mid-morning nap. After lunch they enjoy watching TV in the kitchen and Stretch enjoys snuggling in Bob’s comfortable arms.  They have an afternoon nap, take another walk, then have dinner.  There’s a fully gated yard at the ranch and Stretch has lots of room to roam and play. Stretch has his own little bed he sleeps in right next to Bob and if he gets cold, he goes under the covers.  What a wonderful life!

One of Stretch’s favorite things to do is visit the neighbor’s house and get treats from them at least 3 times a week.  Stretch also loves to go on car rides with the family and he has his favorite spot in the car that he can look out the window!

Stretch, Bob, Marilyn, Julie, and Joe, we are so glad that you found each other! Thank you for adopting through TFTR!

If you’re interested in adopting a TFT of your own like Stretch, we have a lot of amazing little dogs looking for their forever families. You can find our adoptable dogs here or on Petfinder!

Hi, my name is Riley and I’m a toy fox terrier who lived in a puppy mill for 6 1/2 years, where I was forced to live in a cage and have tons of puppies. But then I was rescued and adopted by my loving mom. Unfortunately, my mom is having some health issues and I’m staying at the vet right now until I can find another home where I’ll be just as loved. TFTR is helping me find just the right family!

Riley out and about town!

I turned 13 in November, so I’d love a home where I can have lots of love, snuggle in comfy beds, and hang out with you!

I have a very special walk because I had 2 broken bones in the puppy mill and no one took care of me, so my legs didn’t get a chance to heal the way they were supposed to. But I still get around just fine and only need pain meds every now and then to help me feel better.

I get along well with other dogs, but I am a little shy with people until I have a chance to get to know you. I had a doggie door in my last home, so I may need some help learning how to potty in the right place if you don’t have one at your home!

Just look at Riley’s big smile!

I’m located in Muskogee, OK and am up to date on my shots, am heartworm negative, and spayed. Transport is possible to surrounding areas like MO, TX, AR, and KS!

If you think I might be the right dog for you, please reach out to TFTR by email at admin@tftrescue.com or you can find me on Petfinder by clicking here!

Last week, we introduced a few of our blog volunteers and we’re continuing this week!

We’re looking forward to sharing stories with you over the coming year, including blog meet and greets with TFTs seeking homes, updates on dogs that were adopted through TFTR, profile stories of our amazing TFTR volunteers and board members, and many more posts! Meet two more Laura Lee of our TFTR bloggers:

Laura Lee has owned TFTs since she was a teenager. She adopted her first toy fox in 1981, his name was Petey and he went to college with her. The two were inseparable from the moment Pete arrived. In 1992, Laura added Heidi Belle as a friend for Petey who, by that time, was going blind. Jesse James came along in 1994 and in 1997 Pete-known as Papa Pete completed her TFT family. In 2010 Jesse passed away at the ripe old age of 17. Papa and Laura were torn. Papa was having a hard time adjusting to being alone, so Laura Lee set out to find him a friend. In 2011, she adopted Denver James who stole her heart. He helped Papa adjust, too, providing joy and relief for both. Vegas came in 2012 adding to the family. Last but certainly not least, Jackson joined the pack in 2013 from FritzFox Toy Fox Terriers. She had the privilege of being asked to foster for the Toy Fox Terrier Rescue, fostering Dillon and Rose in the past year. She loves being able to help bridge the gap between rescue and a permanent home.

Alaine has Alaine and Myaa re-homed TFT, Mya, that her daughter acquired almost 3 years ago. The original owner was moving and had to downsize her fur family. Their daughter Kristen, who was 18 at the time, had announced that she wanted a tattoo. Neither Alaine or her husband thought that was a good idea so after months of Kristen searching for the right tattoo….they suggested a dog! They already had a death row English Pointer rescue and a 5 year old black lab commonly called “the rug.” So the search began, and they started asking people if they knew of anyone who wanted to re-home a small dog. One day at work a colleague said my sister has a TFT and she wants to give her away. They went that night to see Mya, she was a 7 year old TFT who was so full of energy it was unbelievable!  She even had a tattoo on her belly. Several days later they picked her up and the rest is history.

Thank you for visiting our website, where we hope we can provide you with the information you are looking for to volunteer with our rescue organization or adopt a new little one into your family or ask for assistance in rehoming your TFT. In any case, we are thankful for you and our group could not be successful without each and every one of you. We are here to serve and help educate you, and we consider all TFT lovers to be an extended family.
